25/6/15: This morning this years Green Schools Committee were presented with their end of year certificates by Mrs. Morris. Congratulations and a huge thank you to the girls from third up to sixth class for all their hard work and efforts in promoting the green school message throughout the school. We will have a new committee next year and hope to work towards achieving the biodiversity flag. A special thank you to Ms. Sheane for her continued generous hard work with everything associated with the green schools. Without her enthusiasm and dedication we would not have achieved as much as we have and for that we are very grateful to her. Here are some pictures of the presentation and a group photo of the outgoing 2014-2015 committee.
24/56/15: Sixth class held their talent show this afternoon in the hall. It was their last hurrah before they bid farewell to the school after spent the past eight years here in St. John of God. There was a wealth of talent on display from both classes with a mixture of everything. From tap dancing to pieces on the cello and piano. Line dancing to gymnastics. Interpretative dance to solo singing. The show had it all. The whole school and members of staff enjoyed every moment. Many thanks to the girls and their teachers Ms. Dowling and Ms. Sheane. Check out some pictures below. Sorry for the poor quality. The hall was quite dark and of course I couldn't get the flash working but enjoy having a browse anyway.
22/6/15: Third class held their skipathon this afternoon in aid of Bóthar. They raised over €600 and kept skipping for over an hour. They had lots of great rhymes and songs to sing when skipping and kept us all entertained. The whole school cheered on their great efforts. Well done to third class and their teacher Miss. Butler.

18/6/15: It was a very special morning here in Saint John of God as we had a lovely  celebration for Father Liddane. We are celebrating his diamond jubilee. Sixty years as a priest and 36 years coming to Saint John of God helping us all in school preparing For First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Not to mention all his work on the Board of Management. All the school went to the hall .When Father Liddane and Sister Úna arrived we sang Celebrations accompanied by Miss. Hartrey on piano and her class played the yukeleles . Girls from each class presented Father Liddane with whatever they had made be it a card, a booklet, poems or just the lovely memories we have of all the times Father Liddane has come to our school . He really appreciated all the efforts the each class went to. Father Liddane gave us all a special blessing and we finished with all the school proudly singing Man of Compassion accompanied by Sister Úna on the piano. Drumming 9/6/15

9/6/15:Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First class thoroughly enjoyed a drumming workshop with the ladies from the Rhythm and Shakes company. Fourth Class School Tour: 5/6/15: Kilkenny Castle and Dunmore Caves

5/6/15: Yesterday fourth class held a science exhibition in the hall. The class were divided into pairs and decided on what experiment they would like to try out. They have been preparing for weeks and we have to say all the efforts from both the girls and their teacher Mrs. Fitzgerald really paid off. The girls parents were invited in and also each class and their teacher went to the hall. We all had great fun watching each experiment and asking lots of questions.Junior Infants particularly enjoyed the exploding volcano with the vinegar and also the senses table where we had to smell different things in small pots and guess what they were. Congratulations to fourth class on a wonderful science expo. The general consensus is there may just be a few budding scientists in the class who may feature in the Young Scientist Exhibition in Dublin in future years. Check out the slideshow below for some pictures.
4/6/15: Junior and Senior Infants enjoyed a puppet show this morning teaching us all about keeping our environment clean. Have a look at some of the photos below.
4/6/15: That time of year is once again upon us. It's school tour season. First off was Miss. O 'Connell's class who visited Nore Valley Farm and judging  by the pictures they had loads of fun. Thanks to Miss.O'Connell, Miss. Flynn, Miss .Ní Chuin and Louise for bringing the girls. Enjoy looking through the photo gallery below.

18/5/15: Mrs. Fitzgerald's fourth class took a trip to the city library the other day. They studied the range of projects on display from Mount. Sion primary school. On return to the classroom they decided to an in depth project on our own school. Since then there have plenty of knocks on doors as the girls ask wide ranging questions to gather as much information as they can on the history of our school and what it is like now. We are all curious as to how these questions will be answered and how the girls project will come together. We look forward to seeing the results of their efforts in a few weeks time.

The wonderful singing from the fourth and fifth class choir really added to the ceremony and we thank those girls who gave up their Saturday morning and did the school proud. We hope all the sixth class girls and their families enjoyed a lovely day especially as we they so lucky with the weather. We wish them well as they enjoy their last few weeks in S.t John of God before they embark on new adventures in secondary school in the near future.
