Slán leat agus go n-éirí an bóthar leat,
Sister Nuncie!

On Friday, 14th January, our dear Sister Nuncie left Waterford and went to live in the Saint John of God Convent in Wexford. All the girls and the teachers in the school wanted to bid her farewell and to show our appreciation for the support she always gave to Saint John of God School during her time in Waterford. She, and Sister Úna, came to visit us on Friday. Each class made cards and booklets for her. 5th Class girls wrote a lovely poem which sums up what she means to us-
Sr. Nuncie
Sr. Nuncie, you’re the caring one
The always happy, cheerful one
As sweet as the sweets you gave us
Giving kindness and hope to all.
Every year you were in our school
With the Far Easts and jellies for the classes
And we always got to see you
At our St John of God masses.
Your sweets were always welcome
Your chats when we met you on the street
Your bike you’ll keep on riding
Just not on Waterford’s streets
You have no idea how helpful you’ve been
During your time in our city
From the nursery school to the hospital
You leaving is a pity
Whenever someone died
You gave friends and relatives comfort and love,
You helped them to remember
They were watching from above
Always praying for the needy
And the sick to get better
We think God always heard you
You are such a special person
Sr. Nuncie, you gave us smiles and kind words
And many visits to our school
You gave us rosary beads and holy pictures
Your lovely smile cheered us through.
We have grown so fond of you Sr. Nuncie,
We’ll miss your little visits
From Castlebar to Waterford
Your kind heart, we will miss it.
We will all miss her very much
and we wish her happiness and good health
in her new home in Wexford.
